The importance of having and balancing your identity as a woman

Happy National Women’s Day 2019

As women having an identity is so important but as women we were never intended to have a self-centered identity. We were expected to have a God-centered identity. When a car malfunctions you don’t take it to the neighbor’s car for analysis and repair. You refer it to the manufacturer. He has a manual (it’s awkward to say “femanual”) which describes his intention for that particular car and how it operates. There is a manual that goes with woman, issued by her Maker.

DEFINING YOUR IDENTITY AS A WOMEN

let’s look at your identity as a women As women, we have so many things that the world tries to use to define us such as our family, our job, who our friends are, how much money we make, what level of education we’ve achieved, and even our social media pages. However, as daughters of the King, we are defined by who God says that we are, not the world.

For this reason, we must look to God’s Word and strike down every lie that the world or the enemy tells us. Thoughts like: you are not enough, you are not pretty, you will fail, or you are not smart enough to do that, must be replaced with the truth of God.

1. Know that you are loved. (Ephesian 3:17)  NLT: “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

2. Understand that you were made in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27) “So God created mankind in his own image,In the image of God he created them;Male and female he created them.”

When we have this security we no longer need to use other people to sustain our sense of identity. When we have a self-centered identity we are always dependent on others to support it. We then make unreasonable and unreasoning demands upon them, maneuvering and exploiting in every way known to woman. For instance, in a search for identity a woman will exploit a man with her body in a vain effort to establish relationship with him, debasing both her womanhood and his manhood.

Or we can assume a spiritual pose—it’s much more subtle—again trying to be what we are not in order to gain approval and thus hope to find security. But the game will be lost in self-deception before it is played. When we lie to ourselves we have already sacrificed our identity. Meanwhile we have violated another’s humanity.

KNOWING YOUR GOD-GIVEN IDENTITY GIVES YOU VALIDATION AND INCREASES YOUR FAITH.

When you know that God validates you, you’re no longer worried about your performance. You know that you’re already equipped to do what God is calling you to do (2 Corinthians 5:20), and you have faith that He will do the work through you. Gone are the days what other people think, or even what you think about yourself. Your faith and hope are no longer based on yourself or others, but God

KNOWING YOUR GOD-GIVEN IDENTITY PUTS YOU IN A BETTER POSITION TO UNDERSTAND YOUR PURPOSE

Until you know who and whose you are, you’re going to have a hard time fully understanding why He created you: you’re going to have a hard time understanding your purpose. Your identity and your purpose go hand in hand. Your identity is comprised of your gifts, talents, education, passions, upbringing, and so much more. All of these factors serve as supporting roles and tools in your purpose. Knowing your God-given identity helps you better understand how they all fit together and what role they will play in your purpose and assignment.

BALANCING YOUR IDENTITY

Whether you are married, momma career or business woman this all falls part of your identity and the art of balancing it all is very important.

You need to know when to switch roles depending on the situation you are in.Don’t let the one interfere with the other.

I hope the above article will be helpful to you as women to find your identity and to balance the different components of your identity.

  1. Wow This is so profound God has ever created just to create, He has an expected end for each and every one of us.

  2. This is an amazing blog. It helped me to deal with my self esteem. I will always remember that God loves me and he has a plan for me. I don’t have to seek validation from people because God made me for a purpose….
In future, I would like to learn how to change roles from being a boss in your company and be a wife at home….
    Thank you
